The groundhog has spoken -- and he says there will be six more weeks of winter.

Punxsutawney Phil came out of hibernation Feb. 2, as he does every year, to make his prediction.

His handlers, translating for him, said, "Phil proclaimed, 'As I look at the crowd, on Gobbler's Knob, many shadows do I see. Six more weeks of winter it must be.'"

Phil's prediction this year may come as a surprise to many.

That's because much of the United States has been enjoying an unseasonably warm winter.

Regardless of what the groundhog says, spring officially begins March 20.
