Man, father plead guilty to harassing Palin's attorneys

ANCHORAGE, Alaska -

A man and his father have pleaded guilty to federal charges of harassing Sarah Palin's Alaska attorneys by phone.

Shawn Christy, 20, and his father, Craig Christy, 48, both of McAdoo, Schuylkill Co., appeared in U.S. District Court in Anchorage on Monday to enter their pleas to one count each of making harassing telephone calls. A sentencing date has not been set.

U.S. District Judge Timothy Burgess last week denied a motion by the Christys to reassign the case to another judge. Their only options were to go on trial or plead guilty.

In December, Burgess rejected binding plea deals that would have allowed the men to avoid jail time.

Prosecutors said the Christys were upset about state restraining orders issued on behalf of former Alaska Gov. Palin, the 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate.
