Police: Man battered, sexually assaulted woman
A 46-year-old Schuylkill County man allegedly battered, threatened and sexually assaulted a woman, state police said.
David Smith Jr., of Gilberton, was arrested and charged after the incident in the unit block of Schultz Road in Gilberton late Friday night, state police said.
According to authorities, Smith got into an argument with a 47-year-old Gilberton woman before punching, kicking and pulling the woman's hair.
Smith retrieved two guns, loaded them and threatened violence if police were called, officials said.
He refused to allow the woman to leave the residence and sexually assaulted her, state police said.
After Smith passed out, officials said the woman left the home and then contacted police.
She was taken to Pottsville Hospital.
Smith was arrested, arraigned and sent to Schuylkill County Prison on $100,000 bail.
His preliminary hearing hasn't been scheduled.
