Local counter-terrorism officials are also making sure they can communicate with each other in an emergency.

The Northeast Pennsylvania Counter-terrorism Task Force tested its satellite phone and radio equipment today in Stroudsburg.

Officials have bought this equipment over the years through grants from the federal Department of Homeland Security.

The task force covers eight counties including Lehigh and Northampton.

Officials say this test wasn't spurred by the bombings in Boston.

It's been in the works for several months.

Officials say they will review what they've done but it appears everything went well.
