ESU student Charles Hampton charged with unlawful contact with minor
19-yr-old accused of exposing himself on social networking site to 15,16-yr-old girls
A 19-year-old East Stroudsburg University student is accused of exposing himself to a minor over his computer camera.
Charles Dshaun Hampton, of 172 Midland Avenue, State Island, N.Y., was arrested Friday and charged with unlawful contact with a minor and related charges.
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children contacted Monroe County officials about Hampton's use of the website meetme.com.
According to Monroe County officials, meetme.com is a social networking website that allows users to create a personal profile and communicate with other users of the website through text and video chats.
Officials said the staff of meetme.com saw Hampton exposing his genitalia and masturbating on video while talking to a 15-year-old girl. Several days later, staff saw him doing the same thing again while video chatting with a 16-year-old girl.
Meetme.com prohibits adults from contacting other users who are registered as minors. Police said Hampton had registered as a 15-year0old, using a fake birth date.
Officers arrested Hampton at his ESU dorm room, and seized his computer. He told police he pretended to be 15 and masturbated on camera for underage girls to watch.
In addition to unlawful contact with a minor, Hampton was also charged with obscene and other sexual materials and performances, criminal use of a communication facility, and corruption of minors.
He was placed in the Monroe County Correctional Facility in lieu of $5,000 bail.
