ELDRED TWP., Pa. -

State officials and a local group are buying up woodlands that were slated for racing development.

The Pennsylvania Game Commission has approved the acquisition of the Alpine Motorsports tract by the Wildlands Conservancy.

The state would add the land in Eldred Township to adjacent state game lands.

Plans to build a resort and race track at the site have been in the works for roughly a decade.

In fact the project's website is still running.

But the plans haven't come to fruition.

No word on when the purchase will be finalized.
