Monroe County man hurt after bomb explodes in home, police say

PRICE TWP., Pa. -

A 22-year-old man was hurt after police say a bomb he was building detonated in his Monroe County home Sunday.

State police said an explosion happened at the David Woeppel home on Rock Ledge Drive in Price Twp. around 12:30 p.m.

The state police fire marshal's unit conducted a post-blast investigation and found thte explosive device.

Police said the suspect--a 22-year-old family member who lived in the home -- was manufacturing a small explosive device when it went off.

The explosion caused a serious injury to the man's left hand and he was flown to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest for medical treatment.

The investigation is continuing and police said there's a possibility of filing criminal charges.

The suspect was not identified.
