MOUNT POCONO, Pa. -

A Poconos resort is taking the plunge -- a $5 million one.

The Mount Airy Casino Resort in Mount Pocono, Monroe County, revealed plans Thursday for a luxury indoor/outdoor pool project.

The 11,000-square-foot four-season pool features a passage that allows guests to swim from indoors to outdoors.

Other highlights include plans for a poolside bar and lounge, private luxury cabanas with day beds and televisions, a heated spa and a 5,600-square-foot outdoor deck.

“We are excited to share details of this highly anticipated project that we are sure will create the sense of a lavish oasis, even in the middle of January,” said John Culetsu, Mount Airy’s executive vice president and general manager.

According to resort officials, the new project would provide between 75-100 construction jobs. Once completed, the pool area will employ around 20 additional fulltime Mount Airy employees.

The project still needs approval from Paradise Township.
