Newfies show their smarts in Carbon Co. competition
They are known as gentle giants, but they got in the water for some serious competition Sunday.
At Beltzville Lake in Carbon County, Newfoundlands showed their smarts on Sunday.
It's part of the 36th annual Water Test Weekend.
Dogs from five states were tested on their ability to rescue people and objects and their water retrieval skills.
Owners say in the summer, some of the dogs train about once or twice a month.
The dogs are a good size, weighing on average from 100 to 160 pounds.
