MAHANOY TWP., Pa. -

A 27-year-old woman tried to sneak illegal drugs into a county prison, police say.

Alicia Rivera of Freemansburg entered the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at 301 Morea Road in Mahanoy Twp., Schuylkill County, around 11 a.m. on Sunday to visit an inmate.

When prison staff searched Rivera before she entered the visitor's room, they found seven orange pills suspected to be 'suboxone' and 16 individual baggies of suspected heroin, police said.

Rivera was taken, along with the evidence, back to state police barracks at Frackville for further investigation.

She was arrested on charges of possession with intent to deliver, contraband and related charges.

She was taken to the Schuylkill County Prison to await her preliminary hearing in lieu of $25,000 bail.

She also faces a probation violation from Lehigh County.
