Accused child abuser Adam Greenblott claims innocence
Monroe County man is accused of hurting girlfriend's 3-yr-old
A Monroe County man is charged with assaulting a toddler, and now he is speaking out about the charges.
Police say he smashed his girlfriend's 3-year-old son's head against a bathtub, but he says that's not the case.
"I haven't slept one night since," said Adam Greenblott, holding back tears.
Twenty-four-year-old Greenblott is trying to figure out how he went from caretaker to incarcerated.
Pocono Mountain Regional Police say on November 30th they found his girlfriend Marie Kramer's 3-year-old son unresponsive inside a home on Stonecrest Road in Blakeslee Borough. Officers say Greenblott was alone with the child and smashed the toddler's head on the bathtub.
"I was in there, I went to get him a new towel because his towel was damp," explained Greenblott. "Reached out, my utility closet where I keep my towels is 8-inches from my bathroom, looked out, told him to stay in the tub, all the sudden I hear a thud, I look in, he's standing up, on the floor. I don't know what happened."
Greenblott was arrested for the incident, and nearly three weeks later, the little boy is still in the hospital.
"I don't understand how he can go from I want you to be my daddy, to you smashed my head in the bathtub."
Greenblott says the toddler has made up stories in the past. But authorities tell us Greenblott was abusing and assaulting the little boy over the last several weeks.
They say the child had older injuries on his head and face area, ears and abdomen.
Greenblott maintains his innocence.
"I was just in shock," he added. "I didn't know what to say to the cops and so they think that because I was so quiet that I just automatically did it, because I was the new boyfriend, I am a big guy."
Greenblott is facing aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of a child and other felony charges.
He was released on $250,000 bail.
Kramer is also charged with conspiracy and endangering the welfare of a child. She was released on a $50,000 bail.
Her preliminary hearing has been set for Jan. 23, 2014.
The child remains in the protective custody of the Monroe County Children and Youth Agency. He's still being treated at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest near Allentown.
