Bear hit by two different vehicles

PORTER TOWNSHIP, Pa. -

A black bear crossing a highway in Schuylkill County was struck by two vehicles, police said.

It happened at a little before 9 p.m. Saturday on Route 209 in Porter Township.

According to officials, the bear wondered onto the northbound side of 209 and was struck by a vehicle driven by Julius Bonacci, 62, of Reading.

The bear then went to the southbound side and was hit by a vehicle driven by Scott Girard, 40, of Lykens.

Nobody in the vehicles was injured.
