Car takes out pole, causes power outage in Carbon County

PENN FOREST TWP., Pa. -

An early morning accident has left more than 1,000 PPL Carbon County customers without power Tuesday.

Officials said a car failed to negotiate a curve on Stoney Mountain Road in Penn Forest Twp., around 7:30 a.m. near Fir Road.

The car hit a utility pole and caused an outage to 1,067 customers. The pole also carried lines for Blue Ridge cable and telephone.

One person was flown and two others taken by ambulance to the hospital. Their conditions are unknown.

State police at Fern Ridge are investigating the incident.
