COOLBAUGH TWP., Pa. -

Police in Monroe County are investigating a deadly crash involving a Coolbaugh Township Volunteer Fire Company rescue truck.

The truck collided with a Mountain Taxi minivan around 11:15 a.m. Sunday on Route 196 near Ryan's Road, in Coolbaugh Township, officials said.

Michael West, 55, of Stroudsburg, died at the scene.

West was driving north on Route 196 and, for unknown reasons, skidded into the southbound lane, colliding with the rescue truck, officials said. West was not wearing a seat belt, police said.

Four firefighters in the truck were injured. There were no passengers in the taxi.
