LEHIGHTON, Pa. -

A Carbon County woman is facing charges she stole hundreds of thousands of dollars from customer accounts when she worked for a bank in Carbon County.

The U.S. Attorneys Office filed charges Thursday against Shelly Ann Kocher, 42, of Lehighton.

Kocher stands accused of embezzling $316,324 from customers' CD and savings accounts when she worked as a customer service supervisor at Jim Thorpe National Bank in Jim Thorpe.

Officials said a plea agreement was also filed indicating that Kocher planned to plead guilty when she appears in federal court for her arraignment.

According to U.S. Attorney Peter Smith, Kocher worked at the bank from 1999 until May 2013.

After discovering the activity, the bank reimbursed the victims for their losses.

If convicted, Kocher faces up to 30 years in prison, $1 million in fines and mandatory restitution.
