Joseph Hahn III of Frackville charged in early morning accident
Damaged Ford Thunderbird found in Jim Thorpe
Joseph C Hahn III, 25, of Frackville, has been charged in an accident that occurred early Monday morning in Mahoning Township.
At 02:44 a.m., Mahoning Township police investigated an accident on Route 209 near Pine Street.
They learned that a vehicle that had been traveling toward Lehighton swerved off the roadway, striking a rock embankment. The vehicle was gone, but several parts of it were behind -- including the front bumper.
Police located the vehicle -- a 1994 Ford Thunderbird -- parked off the road near the Turkey Hill in Jim Thorpe. No one was in the car, but an open container of alcohol was spilled inside the vehicle. The windshield was cracked and the airbags had deployed.
Hahn, identified as the vehicle driver, has been charged with failing to immediately notify police of an accident, restriction on alcoholic beverages, careless driving
and not driving vehicle at a safe speed.
