MIDDLE SMITHFIELD TWP., Pa. -

State Police at Swiftwater are investigating an aggravated assault.

It happened around 10:15 p.m. Wednesday on Oakwood Court in Middle Smithfield Township, Monroe County.

Police say 30-year-old Adam Scholl, of the 100 block of Rosewood Lane in East Stroudsburg, stabbed a woman in the neck with a steak knife.

According to court documents, the victim ran to the mobile home next door for help.

They say the victim was taken to Pocono Medical Center and required emergency surgery. The injury could be life-threatening, according to court documents.

Police say they took Scholl into custody because he returned to the scene around three hours after the stabbing, and he had a strong odor of alcohol coming from Scholl.

As police were leading him away, they said Scholl made the statement: "I'll be doing a lot of time for this one."

He's facing charges of aggravated and simple assault, harassment and recklessly endangering another person.
