STROUDSBURG, Pa. -

The Stroud Area Regional Police Department is reaching out to the public for help in hopes of solving a brutal assault and robbery Monday at a gas station in Stroudsburg Borough.

Police gave the following account of the incident:

An attendant at the Hess gas station on North Ninth Street was approached by a man who immediately began to punch the attendant in his head and face. The suspect demanded money while continuing to assault the attendant.

The attendant handed over money to the suspect, who then continued to assault the attendant while demanding more money. The suspect then went through the attendant's clothing and stole his personal money.

The suspect was seen in a small black vehicle being driven by a black female.
