Seventy-six year-old woman attacked by pit bulls

Charges are pending, police report

TOBYHANNA, Pa. -

Pocono Mountain Regional Police are investigating the Aug. 6 dog attack on a woman mauled by three pit bulls in Tobyhanna, Monroe County.

Seventy-six-year-old Rosalee Roper of Tobyhanna was attacked about 8 a.m. at the intersection of Long Pine and Saw Mill Road, while she was walking in the Pocono Country Place section of Tobyhanna.

The unidentified owner of the dogs came out of his residence and attempted to pull the dogs off Roper, according to police. The owner had to use a wooden stick on his pit pulls before they would release her.

The injured woman was transported to Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg.

Charges are pending, according to police.
