Terrence Roberts survives cycle accident, gets busted for heroin
Accident occurred Saturday in Mahoning Township
Terrence Roberts, 23, of Lehighton survived a motorcycle accident Saturday but was arrested after police found he was in possession of heroin.
At 1:40 p.m. Saturday, Mahoning Township police investigated a motorcycle accident on Mahoning Drive East.
When officers arrived, they found the motorcycle had hit a stone wall and was on fire.
Roberts, the driver, ran away. But he was later taken into custody about a half mile from the crash scene. Police officers found him hiding under a pine tree.
Roberts had a suspended license and was in possession of 13 packets of heroin, according to police.
He was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital for treatment of burns he sustained in the crash.
He told police the motorcycle caught fire while he was riding it, causing the crash. The investigation shows the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed before impacting the wall.
Roberts faces driving under the influence of a controlled substance and other charges, pending the results of a blood test.
