Two men are in custody for stealing items out of motor vehicles in Pocono Lake.
Police said on May 8, at about 4:00 in the morning, they responded to the Forest Glen Community for a report of items stolen out of vehicles.
Multiple I-pads, GPS units, credit cards, wallets and pocket books were reported stolen from unlocked vehicles.
Detectives said they tracked the i-pad along with other stolen items to two pawn shops in Wilkes-Barre, where they had been pawned by 24-year-old Andrew Elia of Wilkes-Barre.
Police said Elia was accompanied by 45-year-old Patrick Ripley also of Wilkes-Barre.
Investigations revealed that Elia and Ripley had both taken part in the theft and had used the stolen credit cards at various Wal-Mart and Convenience stores.
Detectives filed charges of theft, criminal conspiracy, receiving stolen property, theft from a motor vehicle, access device fraud, and, loitering and prowling at night.
Police obtained arrest warrants for both suspects.
On May 27, detectives arrested Elia in Wilkes-Barre and it was revealed through further investigation that Elia was also responsible for thefts from vehicles and subsequent credit card fraud throughout four townships in Luzerne County.
Elia is locked up at the Monroe County Correctional Facility in lieu of $25, 000 bail.
Ripley was taken into custody on May 29 in Wilkes-Barre City.
