The first stray dog, a male, was recovered by police at 6:30 a.m. Friday by Pocono Mountain Regional Police.
It was found on Summitview Lane in Long Pond, Tunkhannock Township.
On Saturday, a female dog was found in the same area of Monroe County.
Both canines were the same breed and color but neither was wearing any identification.
Yet police managed to track down the owners of both dogs.
Richard and Geraldine Bailey of Pocono Summit admitted to police that they were not able to care for the dogs, so they took them to an area in Long Pond and left them there.
The Baileys were cited for abandonment of animals under the state's dog law.
