A 21-year-old man was killed in a horrific car crash in Carbon County late Tuesday night.
Emergency crews were called around 11:15 p.m. to Route 93, about a mile north of Broad Street, in Nesquehoning.
Jeffrey Rider lost control of his car, which then hit several trees and split into two pieces, said police, who noted that the car's engine was found in a nearby stream.
Rider, of Nesquehoning, suffered severe head injuries, officials said. He was rushed to Lehigh Valley Hospital near Allentown, where he died a short later, the coroner said.
Speed was a factor in the crash, police said.
