State Police in Carbon Co. are still looking for a man they say took off into the woods to escape police.

John Holzer, 39, of Walnutport reportedly fled from Palmerton police by jumping in the Lehigh River and heading toward the Appalachian Trail on the other side Thursday around 8:30 a.m.

Holzer is wanted by police for allegedly physically assaulting his girlfriend in a vehicle while driving from Weissport to East Penn Twp. that morning.
