A Pine Grove, Schuylkill Co. man is facing assault, reckless endangerment and a litany of other charges following a domestic dispute that turned into a brawl, police say.
Scott Tobin was arrested by state police Wednesday night around 6:45 p.m. after officers responded to domestic call at a home in the 300 block of Tremont St. in Pine Grove.
Police say Tobin, 43, was in a verbal argument with Laurey Schaeffer-Lewis when police say Tobin threw her to the ground by her hair.
Tobin left the home, police say, but when he returned he got into another argument- this time with a 16-year-old male minor. The argument turned physical when Tobin grabbed the boy by the neck and took him to the floor, chocking him.
Schaeffer-Lewis, 34, attempted to get Tobin off the boy by hitting him with an ax handle, according to police reports. Tobin stopped chocking the 16-year-old, but continued with the verbal argument.
Police say the minor then punched Tobin in the head which prompted Tobin to grab a baseball bat from somewhere in the room and strike the boy in the head, knocking him unconscious for a brief time, officials say.
Tobin fled the home when police arrived but was taken into custody a short distance later. He was arraigned on multiple charges with bail set at $50,000 and committed to Schuylkill Co. Prison, officials say.
The male juvenile will also be charged with harassment, according to police reports.
