Cell phone thieves strike ESU campus early Saturday
Two victims had phones taken
Teen-agers stole cell phones from individuals walking on the campus of East Stroudsburg University in Monroe County early Saturday morning.
ESU police chief Robin Olson described the first incident as a strong arm robbery. A man walking on campus between Stroud Hall and University Center about 12:45 a.m. when assaulted by four males who took his phone and iPod. The victim was struck in the face and received minor injuries.
In the second theft, which happened at about 1:45a.m., a lone individual approached another person on campus and asked to borrow a cell phone. The perpetrator then ran off with the phone.
Olson does not know if the incidents were related. The suspects in both incidents were described as males between the ages 15-19.
The investigation is ongoing. Olson stated there were witnesses to the second incident.
