LEHIGHTON, Pa. -

Swimmers in Carbon County will have to find another way to keep cool.

The Pa. Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Wednesday closed the Beltzville Lake Beach for swimming, due to high bacteria levels in the lake.

As a precaution, the beach will remain closed until acceptable water samples are taken.

According to the DCNR, other activities at the park, including picnicking, fishing, boating and hiking, are still available.

The lake has closed several times this season due to the water quality.
