READING, Pa. -

Kutztown University officials confirmed Monday morning that Dr. Chukwudubem Okafor was an associate professor of English at the university. They say he'd been with the school since August of 1995.

Police say 64 year old Mr. Okafor shot his wife, 37 year old Cheryl Okafor, and then turned the gun on himself on Sunday inside a home in Reading.

According to Investigators, they found the bodies inside a home in the 300 block of Pear Street in Reading. They say they found a small caliber handgun near the couple and that they both suffered apparent gunshot wounds.

The Okafors lived in Exeter Township, and according to detectives they were visiting Mr. Okafor's relatives in Reading.

A neighbor tells 69 News that he saw the Okafor's enter the house, and then shortly thereafter heard two or three gunshots.

Police say Mr. Okafor's relatives ran outside and met officers as they arrived.

Police say there was some kind of previous domestic issue between the Okafors.
