Summertime Open House Continues
Published On: Aug 25 2011 03:05:54 PM EDT Updated On: Aug 22 2010 12:29:40 PM EDTHundreds of homes across the Lehigh Valley are getting the once-over by prospective buyers this weekend.
Steve and Kelly Zapata are looking to buy a new house.
" We know that we plan on having more children in the future and we figure now would be a good time because the market has a lot to offer," Kelly said.
With that said, the Zapata's house is now on the market.
This weekend it's one of hundreds of stops on the Summertime Open House Tour.
"We need to get another push going encourage buyers again with the interest rates the way that they are prices the way that they are that it is a good time to go out and see what they can make their money do for them," said Realtor Frank Renaldi, Jr.
Renaldi said the tour is a collaboration of realtors across the Lehigh Valley.
He added that people can view the homes on the tour on their website, www.summertimeopenhousetour.net.
Mortgage Banker Sam Royer says interest rates are lower than they've ever been right now, so qualifying buyers can do well in this market.
But before you go, Royer says you need to know how much house you can afford, and if you are unsure, ask an expert.
"One of the most important things is sitting down with somebody be it a mortgage company or a bank, but somebody that's trusted that ultimately you can find out what you really qualify for," Royer said.
The tour is held 4 times a year. It runs Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00.
