Try a flower tower for spring planting

With this warmer weather, many people want to get out and garden, but if you don't have a lot of room for plants there are ways to still get your flower fix.

Experts at Home Depot in Allentown say there's a new trend of "yard-less gardening." Many people are using pots on their patios or porches. All you need is a pot, a plant, the correct soil, and a little TLC of sunlight and water.

You could also make a "flower tower." Home Depots all over the area are having a "Do It Herself" workshop where you can learn how to make one Thursday, April 18th at 6:30pm.

Also popular right now are herb and salsa gardens. For herb gardens, you can do them indoor or outdoor and they don’t take up too much room.

You can grow anything from basil to oregano to rosemary, and more!

Home Depot experts say to just snip off a little of the fresh herb, take it in your kitchen, and use it in your cooking. For a salsa garden, you can grow your own tomatoes, peppers, and spices like cilantro.

A sneak peek at Crayola Experience renovations

The Crayola Experience in Easton is about to get a little more colorful.

Renovations have been going on since February and Tuesday we finally got a glimpse at the expansion.

There will be four floors and over 65,000 square feet of attractions.

"We're going to be a brand new facility with brand new attractions. And really a lot of things to do and hands-on interactive ways to experiment with color and to do all things Crayola in ways that they can't easily do at home," said Vicky Lozano, vice president, corporate strategy.

The Crayola Experience closed in February for the complete overhaul, and takes over the fourth floor of the building, formerly occupied by the National Canal Museum.

The attraction, located at 30 Centre Square in downtown Easton, has scheduled its grand re-opening for Memorial Day weekend.

Tickets are 15.99 for ages 2 and up; seniors 65 and over are 13.99 and are on sale now on the Crayola Experience website.

While the Crayola Experience is temporarily closed, the Crayola Store in Centre Square will remain open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Her Inner Child Fun blog is read around the world, and one of Valerie Deneen's most popular posts recently had to do with all of the challenges of crafting with kids.

So, in honor of National Craft Month, which is underway now, Valerie stopped by 69 News at Sunrise to show us how to overcome some of those "crafting obstacles."

Students are learning their lines and blocking for their annual school musicals.

In the Allentown School District, the kids do double duty -- they also perform a sample of their musicals in a special celebration called the High Notes Gala on March 23.

The gala is a way for the business community to pump funding into the district's theater program.

New this year: a ballroom dance component. Irene Blough is here to talk about the ballroom dancing competition and the gala.

Fawn over fashionable flapper fashion at Allentown Art Museum

Step back into the age of Prohibition and flapper days at the Allentown Art Museum.

You can take a trip back to the 1920s with one of the Allentown Art Museum's newest exhibits. "Fabulous Flappers: Fashion from the Ellie Laubner Collection" looks more like a runway show than an art gallery. It features evening and casual dresses, jewelry, bathing suits, accessories, and more from the 1920s.

The other newest exhibit at the Allentown Art Museum will take you on a trip to Haiti.

Haitian Art from the Rodale Family Collection is on display in the Rodale Gallery. The paintings are vibrant and bright, despite the poverty and despair often associated with Haiti.

Both exhibits will be up until April 14 at the museum, located at 31 N. Fifth Street.
