SALISBURY TWP., Pa. -

The National Retail Federation predicts consumers will spend $80-billion on back to school shopping.

That includes school supplies, clothing, and dorm furnishings. According to NRF data, back to school shopping is now the second largest retail event, behind holiday shopping.

Staples in Salisbury Twp.., Lehigh Co., says it's been packed with back to school shoppers for the last week or so.

Parents have been coming in with lists and students have been picking out their favorites.

Staples says themes are huge this year: matching your folders to your notebooks, pencil cases and more. New rubber-edged binders have also been a big seller due to their durability.

Many students are now required to buy USB flash drives, and now they come in fun themes and characters such as Family Guy, the Simpsons, Angry Birds, and more.

As far as technology goes, Staples says tablets, such as the Nexus 7 tablet by Google, are perfect for kids on the go.

Cell phones have also been big sellers, according to the retailer.
