FORKS TWP., Pa. -

More than sixty people packed a Northampton County parking lot Saturday afternoon and by the time they would leave, most would be bald.

The clippers are ready and so are the scissors. People are losing their hair for a good cause.

"Nervous, Why were you so nervous? Because I didn't know what it was going to look like," said participant Andrew Tighe.

The money is being raised to help the St. Baldrick organization, and in honor of David Heard, an 11-year-old child who lost his life to pediatric cancer.

"There's so many people, kids that die of pediatric cancer and just even a little bit of money would help," said participant Zach Pfeiffer.

People came from all over. Neighbors, friends and teachers all took part.

"It's the first time I've ever had the experience of facing an empty seat. I only knew David for his fifth grade year, he was just so full of life and amazing from the beginning," said organizer Kelly Bean.

It's evident of all the number of lives David's has touched by just looking at all the hair on the ground. But the loudest applause came when his family sat in these chairs to get their hair cut as well.

While David 's mother cut her mother's hair, Susan Heard also took time out to remember another Northampton County family who lost their child to cancer.

"I would be remiss if i didn't mention Parker who passed away on Wednesday on his make a wish trip," she said.

People say a shaved head is a way to stand proud, raise awareness and try to find a cure for pediatric cancer.

"Because it's helpful and maybe they could help people, it's good, and doing it for my grandma because she died of cancer too," Tighe said.

And remember their friend, David Heard.

"He would love this. As much as he loved his hair. He would love that so many people are raising money and raising awareness," Susan added.
