Authorities in Springfield, Ill., said a copper sword from the burial site of President Abraham Lincoln has been stolen.
The 3-foot long sword was attached to a statue on top of Abraham Lincoln's tomb at the state historic site, but was broken off at the handle, The State Journal-Register reported.
According to the publication, this is the second theft of the sword -- a bronze version of the sword was stolen from the statue more than 100 years ago.
It's believed that the thieves removed the sword when the Oak Ridge Cemetery was closed.
Cemetery officials said plans are in the works to repair the statue, which represents Civil War cavalry, infantry and navy, according to the newspaper.
