Web Only: Police: Casino Dealer Placed House Money In Tip Jar
WEB ONLY -- A Sands table games dealer was arrested Thursday after allegedly placing house money in his tip jar.
According to court reports, Michael Spedding, of Nazareth, Northampton County, was dealing Texas Hold 'Em at the Sands Casino on Thursday when surveillance camera operators noticed he was putting chips designated for the house and "bad beat" pots into his own gratuity pot.
Police said that between 3:40 p.m. and 4:40 p.m., Spedding, 50, put more than $200 in chips into his personal pot. Court records indicate that Spedding had been dealing at the Sands for more than one year.
Spedding was charged with theft, receiving stolen property and other gaming penalties. He was given $10,000 unsecured bail by District Judge Jackie Taschner and released.
