Whooping cough cases reported in local schools

Cases of whooping cough or pertussis have cropped up at schools in Quakertown, Bucks County.

Two students at Neidig Elementary School and a student at Strayer Middle School are being treated for it.

Two more Neidig students are suspected of having it.

Officials say if your child has or is suspected of having pertussis they need to stay home for five days while taking antibiotics.

Just last week, several cases of pertussis popped up in Hunterdon County, New Jersey.
