A 61-year-old woman is dead after being struck by a vehicle Friday night.

Calls for help came in just after 7:00 p.m. Friday for an accident in the 400 block of Race Street.

Police said Gertrud Kuhnash was trying to cross the street when she was hit by a car.

She was taken to St. Luke's Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

A section of Race Street, near the accident scene, was closed as crews worked at the scene.

Police said they are still investigating the incident.
