Work To Restrict Traffic On Main St. In Phillipsburg

PHILLIPSBURG, N.J. -

Work will begin Thursday on a milling and paving project that will restrict traffic on Main Street through Phillipsburg, New Jersey.

Police said parking will not be allowed on Main Street from the Vandergriff Bridge to Sitgreaves Street on both Thursday and Friday from 6:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.

During the milling process on Thursday, single lane restrictions will be in effect between the Vandergriff Bridge and Sitgreaves Street.

Paving will be done on Friday. According to police, Main Street will have the following traffic restrictions that day:

? Southbound traffic will be re-routed at Hudson Street. Motorists will use the Hudson Street detour to Chambers Street (south). From Chambers Street, (west) onto Stockton Street then back to Main Street.

? Northbound traffic will be re-routed at Sitgreaves Street (south) to Stockton Street (east), to Chambers Street (north) to Heckman Street (east) to Lewis Street (north) to Hudson Street (west) back to Main Street.

Police said businesses within the construction area will remain open during the project.
