Allentown Police Department promotes veteran officers, welcomes new officers

Allentown police announce department promotions

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - The Allentown Police Department is seeing some changes in the form of promotions.

The promotions include a change at the top. Keith Morris, a 17-year veteran of the department, was officially sworn in as assistant chief. Eleven other members were promoted to captain, lieutenant or sergeant.

"This is an outstanding group of officers," said Chief Joel Fitzgerald, who joined the force in December. "They have earned their promotions via their leadership skills, their test scores and their dedication to the job.  I am proud to see them get their extra stripes."

Mayor Ed Pawlowski also administered the oath of office to four new officers.
