Allentown police search for machete attacker

The attack happened after theft accusation, police said.

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Allentown police are on the hunt for a man who attacked another man with a machete early Sunday morning.

The attack happened around 1:40 a.m. in the 900 block of Maple Street. Police said the 40-year-old victim was walking on the street when he confronted another man he knew about an apparent theft.

Police said that man became angered at the victim, took off and returned a short time later with a machete.

The attacker struck the victim in the left arm with the machete, causing a moderate injury, police said.

Police said the victim is receiving medical treatment. Police are hoping to identify the attacker once they are able to complete their interview with the victim.
