Anchors Away: Meals On Wheels

NORTHAMPTON COUNTY, Pa. - Here we go again! It's time for another foray into the world of local volunteerism. This time Rob and Wendy stopped by Meals on Wheels of Northampton County and had quite a busy day!

"Caroline started when she was about eight months old," said Emily Vadasz.

Turns out you don't even need wheels to volunteer at Meals for Wheels.

"All the kids, they are just so much fun," said Vadasz. But wheels are certainly helpful. "On a daily basis we need ninety to 100 people to deliver meals."

But Vadasz says you can get by with the gift of gab. "We're very flexible. We have care callers who call the clients."

There's also the Food Line, a grocery shopping service for clients who say they aren't ready for meals yet. All you have to do is make a list - and check it twice.

"And that's it," said Jean, a big fan of her friends at Meals on Wheels. "It is a wonderful service and more people should know about it."

And now, hopefully they do.
