Authorities say they believe man committed suicide by bomb in New Jersey

Phillipsburg incident is still under investigation

PHILLIPSBURG, N.J. - A man found dead in a Phillipsburg, New Jersey parking lot Saturday morning allegedly died from a self-inflicted explosion.

Warren County Prosecutor Richard Burke said an explosive device appeared to be the cause of the man's death.

It happened in a parking lot outside the Young Men's Italian Association at 320 Mercer Street, Phillipsburg.

Burke said there does not appear to be any other injuries or property damage.

He said the state police bomb squad is investigating the incident.
