Bednarik's late touchdown pass lifts Steelhawks in season opener

The Lehigh Valley Steelhawks won their season opener in dramatic fashion on Sunday.

The Steelhawks overcame a 47-35 deficit with less than five minutes to play, earning a 48-47 comeback win over the expansion Trenton Freedom at Stabler Arena.

Former Bethlehem Catholic standout Adam Bednarik threw for 182 yards and six touchdowns, and hit Brandon Renford for a 14-yard touchdown pass with just 33 seconds left to seal the win.

The game-winning score came on a 4th down and 7 play for the Steelhawks.
