Police: Multiple drugs found inside wrecked car

GREENWICH TWP., Pa. - Two people were seriously injured in an accident that closed a stretch of Interstate 78 in Berks County for several hours Wednesday.

The car struck the rear of a disabled tractor trailer that was being serviced on the shoulder of the eastbound lanes of I-78 in Greenwich Township shortly before 6 p.m., according to Pennsylvania State Police.

The two men in the car were transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital near Allentown for treatment of serious injuries, police said. They were last reported to be in critical condition, according to a hospital spokesman.

The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured.

While investigating the accident, state police said they found multiple drugs and drug paraphernalia inside the car.

The eastbound lanes of the highway were closed at the Krumsville interchange (Exit 40) for approximately five hours.
