3 West Nile virus samples positive in Berks County

HARRISBURG, Pa. - The West Nile virus has been detected in Berks County for the first time in 2014.

Three mosquito samples have tested positive for the virus.

Environmental officials said the samples were taken in Exeter and Heidelberg townships and Wernersville.

West Nile is an infection transmitted by certain types of mosquitoes. It can cause inflammation of the brain.
