READING, Pa. - Albright College is advising motorists they may want to steer clear of the campus in northeast Reading this weekend.
The school will welcome thousands of people for commencement exercises on both Saturday and Sunday.
For that reason, several streets around the campus will either be closed or congested with traffic, Albright officials said.
Approximately 1,000 people are expected to attend a baccalaureate service at the memorial chapel at 4 p.m. Saturday.
No streets will be closed, but heavy traffic is expected on Rockland, North 11th and North 13th streets between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m.
Then on Sunday at 10 a.m., 5,000 people are expected to attend Albright's 155th commencement ceremony at Gene Shirk Stadium on North 13th Street.
The following streets will be closed between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.:
- Exeter Street, between North 12th and North 13th streets;
- North 12th Street, between Exeter and Bern streets
North 13th Street will be intermittently closed between Bern and Union streets during the same time period.
Bob Garfield, co-host of National Public Radio's "On the Media," will serve as the commencement speaker.
