Albright splits with Lycoming on the hardwood

READING, Pa. - The Albright men have spent the early part of this season getting ready to compete for a MAC Commonwealth title.  They'll need some wins now to make all that hard work pay off.

Wednesday night, the Lions had a huge conference showdown with Lycoming. With a win, Albright could pull even with the Warriors atop the Commonwealth Conference Standings with Alvernia also lurking at the top.

The two teams played as if they were the top dogs in the conference. There were 18 leads changes in the game. But behind Dave Singleton's career-high 25 points, Albright was able to pull away for an 83-78 victory at the Bollman Center.

All five Albright starters were in double-figures.

Albright now trails Alvernia atop the Commonwealth Conference. The Lions will play at Widener on Saturday.

The Albright women were also involved in a back-and-forth struggle with Lycoming. But the lady Lions came out on the wrong end of a 54-52 decision to the lady Warriors.

Julia Antonelli scored the game winner with under 15 seconds left to play in the game to give Lycoming the victory.

Kelecia Harris had another big night for Albright, registering 22 points and 13 rebounds. Jessica Venturelli poured in 11.

The loss knocks Albright out of the conference playoff picture for now. The Lions will try and hop right back in when they take on Widener on Saturday.
