Crusaders to open on road following Commonwealth title

Alvernia men to face Wesley in NCAA first round game

READING - The Alvernia men's basketball team will play in the NCAA Division III tournament for the third time in the last four years. The Crusaders are dancing thanks to some heroics over the weekend.

Sophomore Charles Cooper hit an off-balance, circus-style runner with less than two seconds to play on Saturday to give Alvernia a thrilling one point win over Stevenson in the MAC Commonwealth championship game.

The Crusaders earned the conference's automatic berth in the NCAA field and found out today that it will face Wesley in Friday's opening round at Virginia Wesleyan.

Alvernia admits that it hasn't come down off the rush from Saturday. They hope to use some of that energy down in Virginia.
