Alvernia University students take part in day of service

LOWER ALSACE TWP., Pa. - Before they hit the books, Alvernia University students are sprucing up their new community.

Freshmen participated in a day of service, which involved cleaning up the Angora Fruit Farm near Antietam Lake Park in Lower Alsace Township.

The farm was acquired by the Berks County Parks Department last year, but it needs some work.

The Class of 2018 arrived at Alvernia University for orientation on Thursday. Classes start Monday.
