Attempted homicide suspect captured in Oley

Herman Cave shot man in face during robbery in Norristown, officials say

OLEY TWP., Pa. - A man being sought for allegedly trying to kill another man in Montgomery County has been captured in Berks County.

An investigation by Norristown police detectives and members of the U.S. Marshals' fugitive task force led them to set up surveillance on a home in the first block of Scholl Drive in Oley Township, according to Deputy Brian Hicks, a spokesman for the U.S. Marshals Service.

The suspect, Herman Cave, was seen leaving the home and walking to a vehicle parked outside at approximately 10:30 a.m. Monday, Hicks said.

U.S. Marshals, Berks County sheriff deputies and state police troopers moved in and quickly apprehended Cave without incident, Hicks said.

Cave, 29, was being sought for allegedly shooting another man in the face during an armed robbery inside an apartment on New Hope Street in Norristown on July 16, said Hicks, who noted that Cave originally went there under the guise of buying a dirt bike.

The victim remains hospitalized in Philadelphia.
