Attempted homicide suspect transferred from Lehigh to Berks

READING, Pa. - One of two Reading shooting suspects arrested in Allentown earlier this week is now behind bars in Berks County.

Tilson Ortiz-Velazquez was arraigned Thursday night on an attempted homicide charge and committed to the Berks County Jail on $250,000 bail.

Ortiz-Velazquez and Alexis Roman-Hernandez were apprehended in Allentown on Tuesday. Roman-Hernandez has not yet been returned to Berks County, officials said.

Both men had been sought for their alleged roles in the shooting of a man and the theft of his car in the 1100 block of North Ninth Street in Reading on June 16.

The victim, whose name has not been released, was last reported to be hospitalized in critical, but stable, condition.
